Victoria Paris, a 1997 Adult Video News Hall of Fame inductee who performed in more than 100 X-rated films during her on-screen career, has died. She was 60.
Paris, who was born Sheila Young in Great Falls, Montana, and launched her porn career in 1988, passed away Tuesday after a battle with cancer, fellow AVN Hall of Famer Christy Canyon confirmed to the adult industry outlet.
(Note: Paris is not to be confused with the “TikTok Princess” influencer who is currently racking up millions of followers on social media under the moniker Victoria Paris.)
The big-haired, buxom blonde reportedly entered the on-screen sex industry after earning a degree in nutrition from Montana State University before relocating to Los Angeles, where she worked part-time as a secretary, mud wrestler and nude model before shooting her first XXX title: 1988’s “Girls of Double D 7.” She earned her first starring role the next year in the “Three’s Company” porn parody “Live In, Love In,” opposite her then-husband Robert Bullock.
In 1990, Paris tied for AVN’s Best New Starlet award with fellow porn legend Tori Welles — the only draw for that prize in the history of the AVN Awards, which are often hyped as the “Oscars of the porn industry.”
Adult filmmaker Axel Braun, who wrote Paris’ 1990 film “Fantasy Nights,” recalled the actress as a cut above the rest of her peers.
“I wrote the lead specifically for her, because she was very classy and had an aura of innocence that fit perfectly with the story I wanted to tell,” Braun continued. “When I first met her at the table reading, she told me that, just like myself, she didn’t smoke, drink or do drugs, which was very unusual for the times, and I immediately noticed that she was extremely professional, personable and meticulously prepared, which is something that definitely helped make that production smooth and pleasant.”
Braun told AVN he “bumped into her several times over the years at the Cannes Film Festival, because she loved to travel and she enjoyed the finest things in life. And from my experience with her, she was one.”
Fans of the veteran performer took to Twitter to pay homage.
Meanwhile, Paris is the latest of a series of porn stars to meet increasingly downbeat ends.
Dakota Skye, the 27-year-old adult star who was trolled online after posing for topless pics at a George Floyd mural earlier this year, was found dead in a trailer in Los Angeles in June after allegedly struggling with an addiction to fentanyl.
Described by loved ones as a “beautiful soul,” Dahlia Sky died in an apparent suicide in July after lengthy battles with stage four breast cancer and debilitating depression.
Meanwhile, Kristina Lisina — a popular Pornhub and OnlyFans star who performed professionally as “Kris the Foxx” — made headlines after a gruesome fatal fall from the 22nd floor of a high-rise building in St. Petersburg, Russia.
