He was signed by Barry White to his production company in 1984, and started improving his craft. He also became part of the band Tease, with which he played keyboard for three years, then continued to play the keyboard as well as the bass in the next few years. He originally intended to showcase his skills as a musician only, but a mistake with a demo led him to send songs with his vocals, and he was then offered a recording contract with Atlantic Records.
Booker would work on his debut self-titled album, released in 1989, playing all the instruments on the album. He had several successful singles, including “Turned Away” and “(Don’t U Know) I Love You”. Three years later, he released his second and final album called “Niice ‘N Wiild” which included the chart topping hit entitled “Games”. Booker continued to do collaborative work, helping create the single “Crypt Jam” for the soundtrack of “Tales from the Crypt”. He also had a cameo in the film “House Party 3”, appearing alongside Chris Tucker and Bernie Mac. Later in his career, he started focusing more on producing, and helped Troop produce the hit singles “Spread My Wings” and “All I Do Is Think of You”, and also producing for Vanessa Williams and Kool & the Gang”. For Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation World Tour”, Booker was the musical director and producer.
In the 1990s, Chuckii was then the musical director for the “CrazySexyCool” tour for TLC, and also worked with the tours of New Edition and Faith Evans. In the “Wildest Dreams” tour of Tina Turner, he was the pianist. In 2008, Chuckii then worked as the musical director for the Mary J. Blige tour “Heart of the City”, and also served as the musical director for Brownstone and Keyshia Cole, then helped produce the Lionel Richie album “Coming Home”. He continues to work as a producer for artists such as En Vogue, Anastacia, and Diana Ross.
