Ami Kawai is a Japanese actress who works in both theater and television. In Japan, she is best known for playing Marsha in Kidou Keiji Jiban and Lami in Kyry Sentai Zyuranger (the latter known as Scorpina in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). On December 15, 1967, Ami Kawai was born in Tokyo, Japan. She is an actress best known for her roles in Roboman Hakaider (1995), Mobile Sheriff Jiban (1989), and Dinosaur Squadron Zyuranger (1992).
Kawai was born in Tokyo parents Rie Kawai, an actress, and restaurant manager. Her grandma and great-grandfather are actors, and she comes from a long line of them. Katsumi Fujita, her older sister, is an environmental planning designer who most recently worked on the Park Hyatt sign in Seoul, Korea.
Kawai attended the junior high and high schools at the Jissen Women’s Academy. At Jissen Women’s College’s Department of Literature, she majored in English literature. She was a member of the theater group Gekidan Komadori while in elementary school. Her accomplishments there include work on television, radio soap operas, instructional programs, advertisements, and international films. Due to the fact that her middle school and high school forbade extracurricular activities associated with the entertainment industry, she temporarily ceased her activities. She resumed her show business career after being discovered by a production company while she was a college student.
Although she shared a side character with Akemi Furukawa in Kidou Keiji Jiban, she was already well-known in Europe and Latin America before the Power Rangers became popular.
Kawai has experienced a significant brand transformation in recent years. She has short, lightly tinted brown hair rather than long, dark hair.
