Natalie Maines was raised in Lubbock by her father Lloyd Maines, who is a country musician and record producer, and her mother Tina May Maines. She went to Williams Elementary School, after which she attended O. L. Slaton Junior High School, where she was a cheerleader. Later, during her study at Lubbock High School, Natalie became a member of the school choir. After matriculation in 1992, she attended several colleges – West Texas A&M, and South Plains College, where she met musician Cary Banks, thanks to whom she started towardsa professional music career by entering at Berklee College of Music; however, she quit education in 1995.
Natalie then dedicated herself to music, making her debut as a background vocal for Pat Green on her album “Dancehall Dreamer” in 1995. Before the year ended, she auditioned for the position of lead singer of the country band Dixie Chicks. With the Dixies Natalie`s popularity grew year by year, and what is more important, her net worth also increased, thanks to the success of the group. Since Natalie became the lead singer, the Dixie Chicks, released four albums, before a hiatus in 2007. The first album the Dixies released with Natalie as their lead singer was the “Wide Open Space” (1998), which achieved diamond status, with sales of more than eight million in the USA. Their second release came out a year later, entitled “Fly”, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and achieved diamond status, as it sold more than 10 million copies; these album sales certainly increased Natalie`s net worth by a large margin. Before the hiatus, the group released two more albums “Home” (2002), and “Taking The Long Way” (2006), receiving six times and two times platinum status, increasing further Natalie`s net worth.
In 2007, the group members decided to take a vacation from music, and dedicate more time to families, however, the bands status remained as active. In 2013, it was announced that the band members had returned, and that they would tour across Canada, and also participate in festivals in London and Dubai in 2014. Most recently, the band announced another tour, which will cover Europe, and North America.
During the hiatus, Natalie worked on a career on her own, and managed to release one album, entitled “Mother” in 2013, which has also added to her net worth.
Thanks to her talents, Natalie has received numerous prestigious awards and recognitions as a part of the Dixie Chicks, including 13 Grammy Awards, and eight Academy of Country Music Awards, among many others.
Speaking about her personal life, Natalie Maines was in marriage with bassist Michael Tarabay from 1997 to 1999, when they decided to divorce. A year later, she married actor Adrian Pasdar, with whom she has two sons; they divide time between their homes in Los Angeles, New York City and Austin. Natalie is known also for her charity work.
